Port-la-Nouvelle

Port-la -Nouvelle is a commune with 5682 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Aude department in the Languedoc- Roussillon region. It belongs to the district of Narbonne and the Canton Sigean.

Port-la -Nouvelle is both a seaside resort 13 kilometers of sandy beach and a transshipment port in the first place for petroleum products and grain. The port mainly benefits from its proximity to the highway to and from Toulouse, but carries with 10 in the 24 environmental risk zones of the department of Aude. The now significant only for tourism Canal de la Robine flows into the Mediterranean Sea.
