DÄ…browa, Opole County

Dąbrowa ( German Dambrau ) is a village in the powiat Opolski in Poland in the Opole Voivodship and the seat of the municipality of the same country.

Geography

Dąbrowa is situated about 10 kilometers west of Opole and 65 km southeast of Wroclaw, in the west of the historical region of Upper Silesia.

History

In 1449 the village was mentioned as Dambrawa and at that time was part of the Duchy of Opole, which was a fief of Bohemia. The place is, however, much older - so the existence of the parish Dambrau is already in use for the year 1305.

1742 Dambrau became Prussian in 1818 and the county Falkenberg OS assigned - originally the place had belonged to the Opole region. Until 1945 there was a District Dambrau.
