Dan DaSilva

Daniel DaSilva ( born April 30, 1985 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since September 2012 in the Ontario Reign in the ECHL under contract.

Career

DaSilva played during his junior time between 2002 and 2005 for three seasons with the Portland Winter Hawks of the Western Hockey League. In each of the three years, the striker was able to increase its yield point. After he had achieved in his rookie year 22 points scorer, he improved in his second year on 56 points, closing the third and final season in the junior league with 73 points from. Although DaSilva achieved in the three years with the team to the playoffs in each case, but always divided the team in the first round.

In the summer of 2005, the Canadians moved ungedraftet turned professional when he signed a contract with the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League, who were the farm team of the Carolina Hurricanes and Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League at that time. DaSilva was the beginning of the 2005/06 season to a total of 25 missions with the Lock Monsters, in which he scored five points. In addition, he played the end of November four games for the San Diego Gulls of the ECHL, which were also in cooperation with the Colorado Avalanche. However, after an injury at the end of 2005, the right winger failed to end of the season and came in either the AHL or the ECHL to inserts. In the following season DaSilva ran for the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League after both Carolina and Colorado had finished working with the Lock Monsters and found in the River Rats a new partner. Compared to last year, the Canadian was able to increase its yield significantly with 19 points from 43 matches, but he came to the end of the 2006 calendar year and over again in Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League action. Only towards the end of the game in 2006 /07, the winger won a place in the AHL squad of the franchise from Albany. Since Colorado again for the 2007 /08 season took a new AHL farm team in the Lake Erie Monsters, DaSilva played the entire game time there and it filled the last year of his contract. Once again he was able to increase his offensive output and was first not set in the ECHL or CHL.

Despite DaSilvas steady increase over the past three seasons, he was ahead of the 2008 /09 season at first not a new team. It was not until mid-October 2008 showed the Worcester Sharks of the AHL interest and offered him a contract. After a couple of AHL operations at the beginning of the game year, found the striker at the Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a cooperation partner of the Sharks, again. There DaSilva lingered until mid-February 2009 and achieved 21 points in 36 matches. Due to many shutdowns of the San Jose Sharks of the NHL, the Worcester Sharks were forced to summon the striker in the AHL squad. This could contribute to the remaining 21 games of the regular season twelve points on successfully qualifying for the playoffs, which at the end of the season were 13 points from 26 games to book. His achievements eventually earned him a place in the squad for the playoffs, although several regulars had meanwhile returned from San Jose.

For the 2011/12 season the Canadians moved to HC Lev Poprad in the Continental Hockey League. After 15 games in the KHL he broke his contract with the Slovaks in November 2011 due to outstanding salary payments early on. He subsequently received a four-day trial contract with EHC Biel from Swiss National League A. Biel took the option term to bind him, but not true. Thereupon, the HC La Chaux -de-Fonds secured from the second-rate Swiss National League B, the services of the Canadian. In January 2012, he was taken from league rivals EHC Olten under contract in which the Canadians signed a working paper until end of season 2011/12. For the 2012/13 season he was engaged by the Ontario Reign of the ECHL.
