David Petrasek

David Petrasek ( born 1 February 1976 in Jönköping ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is since January 2012 HV 71 Jönköping in the Elitserien under contract.

Career

David Petrasek began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of the HV71, for the first team, he was active in the Elitserien 1994-2000. During this period, he was selected by the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 in the eighth round when a total 226 players for whom, however, he never played. Previously, the defender was already in the 1994/95 season, in his rookie year, became Swedish Champion with Jonkoping. For the season 2000/ 01 he moved to the league rivals Malmö Redhawks, for which he was in the next five years on the ice until this descent into second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan. Subsequently, the former youth international returned to the HV71, with which he again won the Swedish championship in 2008 and 2010. In between, he was in the 2008/09 season runner-up with his team.

From 2006 to 2010 Petrasek assistant captain was with the HV71. He himself was at this time the best defenders of the whole Elitserien and was achieved in 2009 with the most points of all players in the playoffs. In the 2009/10 season, he was both top scorer among the defenders, as well as scorer. With 53 scorer points, he also made it to a new all-time record among the defenders in the league. He was also the most points in the playoffs defenders, and in the main round with twelve gates of the best power -play scorer in the Elitserien. With its good performance, the Swede could recommend for a contract with the Belarusian club HK Dinamo Minsk of the Kontinental Hockey League for the 2010/11 season.

After a year and 60 KHL games for Dinamo Minsk he joined in May 2011 within the KHL Sibir Novosibirsk to HK. In November 2011 he was again in the KHL transferred, this time to Atlant Mytischtschi. There, too, his contract was terminated early after only one template in twelve games in late December 2011.

In January 2012, he returned to his original club HV71.

Internationally

For Sweden Petrasek took at junior level at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1994 and the Junior World Championship in 1996 in part. He was Junior European Champion and Vice World Champion. In the senior level, he was a participant at the World Cup 2011, at the Petrasek with the Swedish team won the silver medal and the defender was elected to the All-Star team.
