DeForest is a municipality ( with a status of "Village" ) in Dane County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, DeForest had 8936 inhabitants.

Geography
DeForest is located in south central Wisconsin, in the northern suburban area of the capital, Madison. Located on the Mississippi intersection of the three states of Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois is located 165 km south-west.
The geographical coordinates are 43 ° 14'45 DeForest " north latitude and 89 ° 20'45 " west longitude. The municipality covers an area of 19.4 km ². The municipality is divided into two parts. Along the western Ortsrandes run on a section of track shared Interstate Highways 39 and 90, U.S. Highway 51 forms the eastern city limits. Through the southern Gewerbiet leads in west-east direction of the Wisconsin State Highway 19 All other roads are minor roads, some unpaved roadways and within local roads.
In a north-south direction, a railroad line of the Canadian Pacific Railway runs through DeForest. The only passenger in the region is the traffic going from Chicago to the West Coast Empire Builder Amtrak, which stops in Madison.
The nearest airport is Dane County Regional Airport in Madison ( 18.4 km to the south).
