Denezières

Denezières is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Denezières is located on 640 m above sea level. M., about 21 km east-southeast of the town of Lons -le- Saunier (air line). The farming village extends in the Jura, on the high plateau of Champagnole Combe d' Ain between the west and the chains of the high Jura in the east, north of the creek Talniederung Sirene.

The area of ​​6.41 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. Almost the entire area is located on the high plateau of Champagnole whose average height of 640 m above sea level. M. lies. This plateau is slightly wavy, with 673 meter above sea level. M. is achieved on a hilltop south of the village is the highest elevation of Denezières. It shows a loose structure of meadow and pasture, respectively woods. To the north, the municipality's area extends into the vast forest area of the Bois de la Vie de Salins and in the extreme northwest in a valley at the edge of the Hérisson Valley. Neighboring communities of Denezières are Doucier in the north, Menétrux -en- Joux in the east, and Saugeot Uxelles in the south and Charcier in the West.

History

The area of Denezières was cleared in the 12th century by the monks of Ilay, the honor of St. Claudius ( former abbot of Saint- Oyend -de -Joux, today Saint -Claude ) built a chapel here. The land was donated in 1189 to the Charterhouse of Bonlieu. The name Denezières appear until the 13th century in the documents. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 to France.

Attractions

The village church of Denezières was built in the 18th century and remodeled in the 19th century. From the 15th century comes the present chapel Saint- Cloud.

Population

With 84 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Denezières one of the smallest towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 173 persons were still counted ), only small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1970s.

Economy and infrastructure

Denezières was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by agriculture, especially livestock and dairy farming, as well as by the forestry village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares. Road connections are made via Uxelles with Clairvaux- les- Lacs, with Saugeot and Doucier.
