Denis Platonov

Denis Alexandrovich Platonov (Russian Денис Александрович Платонов; born November 6, 1981 in Saratov, Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who is under contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Kontinental Hockey League since May 2012.

Career

Denis Platonov began his career as a hockey player with Crystal Saratov, for which he was active from 1999 to 2002 in the sub-prime Wysschaja league. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 in the third round as 75th player from the Nashville Predators. First, however, the attacker played a game more time in Russia, where he stood for Ak Bars Kazan in the Super League on the ice.

Before the season 2003/ 04 was Platonov in the roster of Milwaukee Admirals, the farm team of the Nashville Predators, was added, but for which he was only three games in the American Hockey League denied before he returned to his native Russia, where he re- signed a contract received in Kazan. Towards the end of the 2004/05 season Plantonow first moved to Kazan League rivals Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk before the HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk he signed in the summer, with whom he won the Spengler Cup 2005. In addition, Platonov was with his team in 2007 for the first time in his career, Champion of Russia and won the 2008 IIHF European Champions Cup with his team. In the 2008 /09 season with Metallurg Platonov reached the final in the inaugural Champions Hockey League, where he was defeated and his team the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League A.

From May 2011 Platonov played for Avangard Omsk of the HK. In December 2011 he transferred within the Continental Hockey League Salavat Yulaev Ufa to, before he returned to Metallurg Magnitogorsk in May 2012 and a contract for two years under wrote.
