Derek Joslin
Derek Joslin ( born March 17, 1987 in Richmond Hill, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who plays for AIK Stockholm in the Svenska Hockey ligands on the position of the defender since July 2013.
Career
Joslin started his career in the 2003/04 season at the Aurora Tigers in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League, a junior league division club. Even at the end of the season he came to his first seven missions in the Ontario Hockey League with the Ottawa 67 's to their permanent staff he belonged in the following season. With 30 points in 68 games the offensive defender completed a successful rookie season, which meant that he was in the fifth round selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2005 to 149 out of the San Jose Sharks. In the season 2005/ 06 Joslin was able to increase its yield point by a further 18 points scorer over the previous year. As a reward, he came to the end of the OHL season to his first stakes in the American Hockey League for the former farm team of the San Jose Sharks, the Cleveland Barons. The same scenario was repeated in the 2006 /07 with the difference that the Canadians scored one more point in the OHL and this time at the Worcester Sharks, the new farm team of San Jose, came to missions.
For the 2007/08 season Joslin finally moved firmly into the professional and worked on immediately secured a regular place in the Worcester Sharks defense and completed all 80 season games. With 34 scorer points - including ten goals - in his first professional season, he was the second best defensive player of his team on the offensive, but belonged to the second largest negative plus / minus value of all the players to the weaknesses on the defensive. In the 2008/09 season, in which he was appointed one of the assistant captains to Joslin's values on the defensive improved significantly, what his offensive efficiency but did not suffer. His performance increase was rewarded in January 2009 with the first appeal and the debut in the National Hockey League. In addition, a few days later he received his first invitation to the AHL All- Star Classic, where he was elected by the fans to the starting lineup of the Canadian All-Star team. Also in the season 2009/ 10, the inserts of the Canadian between the AHL and NHL split up before he firmly belonged to the NHL squad of Sharks from the 2010/11 season. Joslin came but rarely inserts, after which he was transferred on 18 February 2011 to the Carolina Hurricanes.
On July 5, 2012 Joslin signed a contract with the Vancouver Canucks. A year later, the contract ran out and joined Joslin as a free Agnet for AIK Stockholm.
