Derek Trucks

Derek Trucks ( born June 8, 1979 in Jacksonville, Florida) is an American guitarist. In addition to his role as bandleader of the Derek Trucks Band, he is a member of the Allman Brothers. Together with his wife Susan Tedeschi he founded in 2010 the Tedeschi Trucks Band. He is best known for its outstanding slide guitar as well as his style mix of blues, (Southern ) rock, funk, jazz and world music.

Biography

Trucks took for the first time at the age of nine years, a guitar in his hand. He was quickly infatuated with his instrument and played with many local musicians who certified him decided talent. At age eleven, he had his first appearance and with twelve his first band. From this time he played as much as a professional musician. In 1994 came the Derek Trucks Band. Today's line-up is:

He has beside his uncle Butch Trucks member of the Allman Brothers in 1999. He was also for a short time part of Eric Clapton band and is the youngest of the " 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time " by the American Rolling Stone Magazine. 2011, the band with the Blues Music Award for "Band of the Year" Award.

Trucks early developed a taste for classical Indian music. He received lessons from the Indian sarod virtuoso Ali Akbar Khan in San Rafael, California.

Derek Trucks is married nine years older blues singer Susan Tedeschi. The bands of the artist couple also often play under the name Soul Stew Revival together. They have two children who are taken from their parents regularly on tour.

Trucks and Tedeschi 2010 decided to establish a common bond. After a successful tour and performances, among others Eric Clapton's "Crossroads 2010" Festival of the album Revelator Tedeschi Trucks band was published in 2011. The recordings were intense songwriting sessions on the common property of the two musicians in Jacksonville, Florida, ahead. Guests here have included John Leventhal ( Johnny Cash, Paul Simon ), Jeff Trout ( Counting Crows ), Ryan Harris ( John Mayer) and Gary Louris ( The Jayhawks ). Tedeschi describes the work as " a real songwriting camp".

Style & Equipment

Trucks ' style is mainly influenced by blues and slide guitarist Duane Allman or as Elmore James. On a pick he omitted completely. Trucks plays in his solos, especially the classic blues scale, but often with classical Indian strikes. In most of his guitar solos Indian raga elements are audible.

As a guitar mainly comes a Gibson SG Custom Reissue 1962 used by numerous musicians such as BB King, Bob Dylan and John Lee Hooker is signed. As an amplifier he used for 15 years to the same 1965 Fender Super Reverb amp, are installed in the Pyle Driver Speaker. Overall, Derek Trucks keeps his equipment very purist.
