Dewey Square

The Dewey Square is a square in the city center of Boston, Massachusetts in the United States. It is bounded by the streets Summer, Purchase and Congress as well as the Atlantic Avenue.

Description

In the underground, the Dewey Square Tunnel, which carries Interstate 93 Leonard P. Zakim up to Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge runs. The Boston South Station is located at the southeast corner of the square with access to the trains of Amtrak and MBTA, Metro Red Line, as well as the bus lines of the Silver Line.

The square was named after Admiral George Dewey, who successfully fought in the Battle of Manila Bay.

From September 30 to December 10, 2011 was located on the square in a tent city of the Occupy movement Boston.
