Geography
Geographical location
Dipperz is located about ten kilometers east of the county town of Fulda in the Rhön.
Due to its convenient location to the city of Fulda, close to the beauty of the Rhön Dipperz developed into a popular residential community.
Neighboring communities
Dipperz bordered to the north and east on the community Hofbieber, in the southeast on the community Poppenhausen, in the southwest on the community Künzell and to the northwest by the municipality Petersberg (all in the district of Fulda ).
Structure
The municipality consists of the villages Dipperz Altenrain, Armenhof, Dipperz, Dörmbach, Finkenhain, Friesenhausen, cabbage reason Wisselsrod and Wolfert.
History
Dipperz was first documented in 1261. The district Friesenhausen however, is much older, the first written reference dates back to the year 824.
Incorporations
In the course of municipal reform in Hesse, the new community Dipperz was formed on August 1, 1972 from the eight formerly independent communities Armenhof, Dipperz, Dörmbach ( Fulda), Finkenhain, Friesenhausen, cabbage reason Wisselsrod and Wolfert. At that time, the number of inhabitants 2300.
Structures
The Roman Catholic Church of St. Anthony is a brick building erected from 1896 to 1898 in a neo-Romanesque style. For the Church, the sculptor John Cherry from Petersberg created two sculptures on the side portals. The baptismal font is late Gothic.
