Kalbach

Kalbach is a municipality in the district of Fulda, in Hesse in the state of Hesse in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Geography

Geographical Location

Kalbach is 280-658 meters above sea level in the southern district area of the district of Fulda up to the ridge, the link between Vogelsberg in the northwest, the Rhön in the ( North ) East and the Spessart in the south. The town itself lies completely in the Rhön.

Neighboring communities

Kalbach is bordered to the west on the community Flieden, on the northwest by the municipality of Neuhof, in the north- east on the communities oak cell and Ebersburg (all four in the district of Fulda), to the east by the municipality of moths ( the district of Bad Kissingen in Bavaria), and on the south by the community and the city Sinntal Schlüchtern (both in the Main- Kinzig -Kreis).

Structure

The municipality consists of the villages Eichenried, Heubach, Mittelkalbach, Lower Kalbach, Oberkalbach, Uttrichshausen and Veitsteinbach.

History

Kalbach was mentioned in the year 852 in a deed of the monastery of Fulda first time.

Incorporations

Already on September 1, 1969 Veitsteinbach took to the neighboring community of Oak Ried. On December 31, 1971 Heubach came to Uttrichshausen. On April 1, 1972, the formerly independent municipalities Lower Kalbach and Veitsteinbach were integrated into the community Mittelkalbach. These merged on 1 August 1972 Oberkalbach and Uttrichshausen the new community Kalbach.

The municipal council consists of 31 members Kalbach. The municipal election held 27 March 2011 yielded the following results:

Mayor

Mayor Dag Wehner (CDU ) was first elected on 10 September 2006 directly in this office, which he has officially commenced on January 2, 2007. His re- election was held on September 9, 2012 with a vote share of 94.0 per cent with a turnout of 43.7 percent.

Economy and infrastructure

In the community Kalbach the largest solar park located in the district of Fulda. The plant has a total capacity of 365 KW and is operated by the ÜWAG subsidiary synergy.

Traffic

Through the territory of the municipality Kalbach run the Federal Highway 7 and the high-speed railway route between Hanover and Würzburg. The 1298 m long tunnel Kalbach, each 773 m long tunnel Hartberg and Born hedge and the Kalbach viaduct (364 m) situated on the territory of the municipality. The northern quarter of the country back tunnel of a length of 10,779 m longest tunnel in Germany, is also located on the municipality.
