" Weckfresser "

From time immemorial the inhabitants of the core community " Eichenzeller Weckfresser " are mentioned. In the garden of Eichenzeller such a small castle " Weckfresser " is set in stone. Until 1785 Oak cell belonged to the parish Florenberg. On special feast days or at certain pilgrimages the Eichenzeller went to the Florenberg to church. Despite the long journey they were, much to the chagrin of the other pilgrims from the neighboring villages, Always the first. Until the others arrived on the mountain, the Eichenzeller usually had already bought all hard tags awakening. Since it was mostly on weekdays only the baked out weeks ahead of bread, the Festtagsweck was a popular diversion. Angry that the Eichenzeller had already bought everything, the neighboring communities designated them as Eichenzeller Weckfresser. This designation is left to them. However, these traditional designation applies in this form only for the old-established citizens, while the Eichenzeller new citizens, the old notion jokingly umdeutend call themselves bread connoisseurs.

Planning of a reservoir

In Döllbachtal the district Döllbach was planned a dam in the direction of the neighboring village Thalau in the 1970s west, which was to serve as a water reservoir for the Frankfurt area and energy. The resulting reservoir should be used as a recreational area. The supports of the A - 7 motorway bridge were therefore carried out with a special concrete that they had later gefußt in the lake in the middle. The reservoir plan was abandoned for various reasons, including because the water supply for the Frankfurt area could be otherwise secured. For the district Döllbach had expelled from the planning to the rejection of a construction freeze result, there were no building sites in place for a long time.

Another oddity was in 2006 with the idea to create an airfield with 1.5 kilometers asphalt runway above the industrial park Rhön. The entrepreneur Lutz Helmig wanted to invest there to set up a special landing pad for small jet aircraft. However, the idea failed because of the massive resistance of the residents in Rönshausen.
