Turkish scorpionfish ( Dracocephalum moldavica )

The dragon heads ( Dracocephalum ) are a genus of flowering plants in the mint family ( Lamiaceae). They appear mainly in Asia.

Description

Rockfish are mostly perennial, rarely annual herbaceous plants. The stem is erect or decumbent. The oppositely arranged leaves are constantly stalked at the base of long, above they are stalked or sessile, pinnate and entire.

The Scheinquirle are arranged in dense heads or spikes, or further apart. The bracts are usually sharp and spiky cut or rarely entire. The cup is Roehrig Roehrig or bell-like, strongly or slightly curved, 15 - veined, double lip and pentadentate. The teeth are almost the same, sometimes the center tooth of the upper lip is wider than the adjacent teeth. The edge of the notches between the teeth is thickened. The crown is colored two-lipped and blue- purple, pink, violet or rarely white. At the base it is constricted and dilated at the throat. The upper lip is thick or slightly bent. The lower lip is three-lobed, the middle lobe is the largest. Four stamens present, of which the two rear longer than the two front. The anthers are hairy or bald rare. The tip of the stylus is divided into two evenly.

The nutlets are oblong, smooth, and sometimes sticky.

Dissemination

The genus Dracocephalum occurs mainly in alpine and semi-arid regions of the temperate Asia; next to it are some species native to Europe and one each in North America and North Africa. In China, there are about 35 species.

System

The first publication of the genus Dracocephalum was in 1753 by Linnaeus in Species Plantarum, Volume 2, pages 594-596. Type species is L. Dracocephalum moldavica. Synonyms for Dracocephalum L. are Cephaloma Neck., Nom. inval. , Dracontocephalium Hassk. , Fedtschenkiella Kudr. , moldavica Fabr, Ruyschia Fabr and ruyschiana million.

The genus belongs to the Dracocephalum Nepetinae subtribes of the tribe Mentheae in the subfamily Nepetoideae within the mint family ( Lamiaceae). Closely related is the genus Nepeta L..

The genus includes about 70 species Dracocephalum (selection):

  • Dracocephalum aitchisonii Rech.f.: The home is the eastern Afghanistan and possibly Pakistan.

  • Dracocephalum bipinnatum Rupr. (Syn. Dracocephalum bipinnatum var biflorum CYWu, Dracocephalum bipinnatum var brevilobum CYWu & WTWang, Dracocephalum ruprechtianum rule Dracocephalum ruprechtii rule): It is widely used by Pakistan, Afghanistan and across Central Asia to western Himalayas in the north-western China.

  • Dracocephalum breviflorum Turill: The home is the Chinese Autonomous Region of Tibet.
