Dragons Rhöndorf

The Dragons Rhöndorf are a basketball club from the district of Rhön village of Bad Honnef near Bonn. The team plays since 2011 again in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB after it was 2010/2011 still based in the ProA.

History

Former name of the team are Rhöndorf TV, TV Tatami Rhöndorf and SOBA Dragons Rhöndorf in the 2nd Bundesliga Nord and previously in the National Basketball League. From 1995 to 1999 the team played in the National Basketball League before the license to the Skyliners Frankfurt changed. Rhöndorf played with the purchased license from Ludwigsburg to continue in the second league. After another sporting climb the license was passed on again. Beneficiary this time was Rhein Energy Cologne, Cologne 99ers later. Rhöndorf remained second-class and qualified for the 2007/2008 season for the newly introduced ProA. During the 2009/2010 season, the Dragons announced that the long-time sponsor and patron Franz Ludwig Solzbacher will cease with the end of the season his commitment. The 2009/2010 season was one of the most successful seasons in club history. For the 2013/2014 season came with Fabian Thülig a former fan favorite back to the Drachenfels, after he had terminated his contract with the Telekom Baskets Bonn. The Home Hall of SOBA Dragons Rhöndorf is the sports hall Menzenberger road on the western edge of the district Selhof with a capacity of 1,800 spectators. It is also called Dragon Dome. The only home game against Bayern Munich in October 2010 attracted the Dragons to another hall. The match took place due to the large demand in the Bonn Telekom Dome in front of 3300 spectators.

The SOBA Dragons Rhöndorf are organizers of the Rhine -Main- Cups on August 31 and September 1, 2013 at the Dragon Dome. Venues

The home of the Dragons Hall is the sports hall Menzenberg in Bad Honnef district Selhof. There, the Dragons have already contributed to Erstligazeiten of their home games.
