Dugs special mission is an American animated short film of Pixar Animation Studios and the Walt Disney Company from the year 2009.
Action
Golden Retriever Dug 's birthday. He has enjoyed just at the scent of a flower, a bird Kevin runs over to him and a little later Doberman Alpha, Beta and fall Rottweiler bulldog gamma about him. The three want to catch Kevin and fear, the clumsy Dug it could stand in their way. You instruct him to guard a huge boulder, which is reportedly the favorite rock of the bird. Through an oversight Dug is the rock in motion, the falls behind a slope and almost alpha, beta and gamma buries itself. The three Dug now give the task to persevere in a trough, which is supposed to be Kevin's favorite trough. The sand under Dug remain, however, and he falls into the abyss. He lands on Alpha, Beta and Gamma, as the just want to sneak up on Kevin.
All the other tasks that give the three Dug, lead to disasters. At the end of Alpha reports on his collar to Charles Muntz, that they could not catch due Dugs Kevin behavior. Dug was a bad dog. Dug flees and meets a little later on Carl Fredricksen and Russell. Delighted, he realizes that his birthday wish, a new owner, has come true. After a first moment of surprise, Carl and Russell make friends quickly with Dug.

Dugs special mission is a prequel to the long animated film Up. It tells the history of the first meeting of dog Dug Carl Fredricksen and Russell with. The end of the short film goes seamlessly into the film.
It is the 18th animated film from Pixar Pixar and 8 production, which was created in collaboration with Walt Disney Pictures. The film was released on 10 November 2009 in conjunction with the feature film Up on DVD. It was the sixth direct-to- video production by Pixar.
