Emerson (Manitoba)

Emerson is a small town in the south of the province of Manitoba in Canada. The city was named after the American philosopher and writer Ralph Waldo Emerson. The city is situated on the eastern bank of the Red River of the North, just north of the border with the United States and to the point at which to meet the province of Manitoba and the U.S. states of Minnesota and North Dakota. Earlier, passing an important rail link between the United States and Canada on the town, past led to the Great Northern Railway trains (now BNSF Railway) and Soo Line Railroad and the Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Railways. In the city there is a primary school and a secondary school near Dominion City.
