Emma Pooley

Emma Pooley ( born October 3, 1982 in London) is a British cyclist.

Emma Pooley began her career as a long distance runner and triathlete until she moved because of an injury to cycling. In 2005, she finished fourth in the national road championship. In 2007 she was nominated for the road Wweltmeisterschaften and ended it with an eighth place in the individual time trial and ninth in the road race.

2008 Emma Pooley won the World Cup race at the Trofeo Binda Alberto. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, she was 23 in the road race after she had her teammate Nicole Cooke successfully helping them to win the race. In the individual time trial Pooley succeeded so far there greatest success, winning the silver medal behind the US-American Kristin Armstrong.

2009 Pooley was British champion in the time trial and could reap several important victories, such as the Grande Boucle of Féminine. In 2010 she decided the Flèche Wallonne for themselves. In the same year she won in Geelong the World Champion title in the time trial. This makes it the first British woman who won the time trial a road world championship gold medal.

Emma Pooley was born in London but grew up in Norwich and studied at Cambridge later. Today she lives in Zurich and studied geotechnical engineering. In the years 2010 and 2011, she went for the Cervelo Test Team or its successor Garmin - Cervélo and moved to its dissolution in 2012, the Dutch cycling team AA Drink- leontien.nl. At the Giro d' Italia Femminile 2011 and 2012 she won second place respectively overall.

In the 2013 season towards Emma Pooley joined the Swiss Bigla Cycling Team. In addition to bicycle races she contested in 2013 and very successful long-distance triathlons: In June she won the premiere of swissman Xtreme Triathlon, starting in Ascona and goal on the Kleine Scheidegg. Five weeks later, they classified themselves at Ironman Switzerland in fifth.
