Erika Villaécija García

Erika Villaécija García ( born June 2, 1984 in Barcelona) is a Spanish swimmer.

Career

Villaécijas excels in long freestyle distances, namely 400 meters, 800 meters and 1500 meters. About 400 meters freestyle, she joined already at the European Swimming Championships in Berlin in 2002 on the first time, when she reached the eighth place. Only a year later, at the Short Course European Championships 2003 in Dublin, she won the gold medal in the 800 meters freestyle her first international title. In the long course 2004 European Championships in Madrid, she could also erschwimmen a European champion with the gold medal in the 800 meters freestyle. A second title she won additionally together with the Spanish 4 × 200 meter freestyle relay. That same year she also participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where she won the finals and then the fifth place in the 800 meters freestyle. With the 4 × 200 meter freestyle relay was sixth overall. Only about 400 meters freestyle distance she could not reach the finals with the 18th Place.
