The Esbjerg Ishockey Club is a Danish ice hockey club from Esbjerg. The club, founded in 1964 is one of five Danish championships of the most successful in the country. Play their home games in the club from the Esbjerg Skøjtehal opened in 1976.

History

The Esbjerg IK in its current form was founded on November 4, 1964, but already exist before a ice hockey team under that name in the city. With five Danish Cup titles and ten times reaching the runner-up of the club is one of the most successful in Denmark.

The Esbjerg IK participated in several part in European cup competitions. In the season 1969/70 the club failed in the European Cup in the first round on EV Füssen from Germany. At the same event would retire in the 1988/89 season after defeats against the HK CSKA Moscow, SC Dynamo Berlin and Újpesti TE as a group Last of the preliminary round Group A. In the years 1998 and 2005 went to Esbjerg in the IIHF Continental Cup, but both times did not come through the group stage.

Following the 2004/ 05 season, the professional license of the club was taken over by the football club Esbjerg fB, which thus could expand its sports facilities. The new team has since been under the name EfB Ishockey in the AL -Bank Ligaen, while the Esbjerg IK has only a youth and amateur Department.
