Estorf

The community Estorf ( on the Weser ) is in Nienburg / Weser. It consists in its present form since the Lower Saxony government reform in 1974 and is a member municipality of the velvet municipality Mittelweser.

Community structure

The municipality is divided into the following districts Estorf:

  • Estorf
  • Leeseringen
  • Nienburger break.

A subdivision of the municipality in towns is not done, because this is not allowed for member communities of collective municipalities in Lower Saxony.

History

Estorf was first mentioned in a deed dated 9 February 1096. In the deed the Countess Meresvid Stump Hausen transferred among others, a Vorwerk called " Aesdorpe " Minden Church. After excavation finds from the year 1977, however, is to assume that already in the year 550, the current local situation has been constantly inhabited.

Had a significant influence during the Middle Ages the two great noble families of the more famous and Freytag von Munchausen. However, the latter parted to 1413 from their Estorfer possessions during the run their estate of Freytag's to the present day.

During the Thirty Years War, the residents Estorfs designed to protect their crops from wandering mercenaries in the woods hiding in barns, the so-called Schünebusch. This place attracts in our days with newly renovated barns, in which historical Backstage be held, among other things regularly, especially a host of cycling tourists.

On 1 March 1974, the main part of the dissolved municipality Leeseringen was incorporated.

Culture and sights

  • Estorfer Baroque church ( consecrated in 1696 ), with historic ceiling paintings, wood carvings, altar and organ. The organ was built in 1839 by the Hanoverian organ builder Ernst Wilhelm Meyer for the Church in Estorf and is preserved in its original state. She has a Manual and 11 registers and was restored by the organ workshop Jörg Bente from Helsinghausen 2005.

Traffic

The Estorf station ( Weser) is located on the railway line Nienburg - Minden. He is operating the station. Here hold no passenger trains.
