Euro Hockey League 2011–12

The Euro Hockey League 2011/2012, the 5th season of the discharged by the European Hockey Federation Euro Hockey League, the most important European competition for club teams in hockey will be. The competition will be played in four tournaments with group and knock-out phase. The winner was the Uhlenhorster HC, who defeated the host Amsterdam H & BC in the final after extra time and penalty shoot-out 4-3.

Participant

A total of 24 teams in the 12 top-ranked nations in the EHF -3- year rankings qualify for the EHL competition. All other nations send their teams to the Trophy and Challenge competitions.

Preliminary round

The first round took place in autumn 2011 in the context of two tournaments one hand in Mülheim an der Ruhr on the investment of the HTC Uhlenhorst, as well as in Antwerp, the Belgian representative KHC Dragons instead. From the eight groups of three teams to the table first and second qualified for the knockout stages. A win there were 5 points, 2 points for a draw and a defeat by less than three goals a point.

Euro Hockey Trophy

The Euro Hockey Trophy was on 6 - 9th April 2012 held in Lille, France. It forms the first substructure for Euro Hockey League. The clubs played next to the title also points to its national association in the EHF -3 -year rating which determines the number of clubs a nation for the European Cup competitions.

The starting positions for the Trophy were awarded on the one hand by the EHF -3- year ranking. Belarus and Scotland did not get a starting place in the EHL more, so that their national champions competed in the Trophy. On the other hand, were due to good results last year's participants Trophy champion of Austria and Switzerland play in the EHL.

The integration with the third-tier Euro Hockey Challenge I is a climb and descent control. The second starter of Scotland and the Czech champions reached at last year's Trophy only the two last places seven and eight and went from hence in the Challenge. For the winners of the promotion games moved at the Challenge, the second starter of Austria and Switzerland in the Trophy.

The four remaining representatives remained unchanged to the previous year: Welsh champions, European Cup second starter of France and the two representatives of Italy.

Euro Hockey Challenge I

The Euro Hockey Challenge I was from the 25th - 28th May 2012 be held in the Croatian capital Zagreb. It forms the second substructure for Euro Hockey League. The participants of the tournament were both relegated last year from the Trophy Czech champions and the second Scottish representatives, the climbers from the Challenge of the Masters II of Gibraltar and the second Belarusian starter. The four remaining representatives remained unchanged to the previous year: Welsh second starter, second European Cup starters from the Czech Republic and the Masters of Croatia and Portugal. The Portuguese Club AD Lousada not approached.

Euro Hockey Challenge II

The Euro Hockey Challenge II was on 25 - 28th May 2012 be held in the Greek capital Athens. It forms the third substructure for Euro Hockey League. The participants of the tournament were both relegated last year from the Challenge of the Slovenian champion and the second Portuguese representatives, four representatives remained unchanged to the previous year: the first starter of Azerbaijan, Sweden, Greece and Denmark. Since 2011, the Challenge III for lack of host could not take place, nor promoted to Challenge II were determined. As another participant in the second starter from Gibraltar and as in the previous year, the second club from Denmark was determined.
