Evan Bayh

Birch Evans " Evan " Bayh III ( born December 26, 1955 in Shirkieville, Vigo County, Indiana ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. He was governor of the state of Indiana from 1999 to 2011 U.S. Senator for that State.

Life

Bayh was born in Shirkieville, a small town in western Indiana. His father Birch Bayh, who from 1963 to 1981 was U.S. Senator in 1976 and also ran for the presidential nomination of the Democratic Party. He succumbed to the future President Jimmy Carter.
