Faimalaga Luka

Faimalaga Luka (* 1940 † 19 August 2005) was Governor-General of Tuvalu. In this capacity, he represented the British Queen Elizabeth II as head of state.

Luka worked as a radio announcer. During his political career, he served in various offices. Among other things, he was Minister of Health and Minister of the Interior from 1999 in the country. After the death of Prime Minister Ionatana Ionatana he was elected on 24 February 2001 as his successor by the Parliament.

Already on 14 December 2001 had to withdraw Luka again, after he had lost a vote of confidence in parliament.

On 9 September 2003, he was appointed Governor-General of Tuvalu. Since there is a mandatory retirement age of 65 years in Tuvalu ended his term in April 2005. His successor was Filoimea Telito
