Bikenibeu Paeniu

Bikenibeu Paeniu ( born May 10, 1956 in Tarawa, Gilbert and Ellice Islands ) is a politician from Tuvalu and two-time former prime minister.

Prime Minister from 1989 to 1993

Paenieu began his political career in 1989 with the election of deputies of the Assembly House ( Fale Fono e ) at a by-election. The Parliament he was a member until his election defeat in August 2006 as a representative of Nukulaelae.

In the same year, he called in the parliamentary elections successfully out the incumbent Prime Minister Tomasi Puapua.
