Fencing at the 1904 Summer Olympics

In the III. Olympics 1904 in St. Louis five fencing betting advertising were held. This took place on September 7th and 8th place in the Physical Culture School, a gym right next to the stadium Francis Field.

It involved eleven fencers from three nations. Was fought with foil, epee and saber, in addition, there was a contest in stock fencing ( single stick) and a ( non-Olympic ) Foil competition for juniors.

Foil Single

In Step were nine fencers from three countries. The tournament began with two groups of five or four participants in each fought against each other. The two group winners came in the final round, where the same system was used. In the final round Fonst prevailed 3-0 victories. Each battle was over four minutes.

Foil team

It involved two teams of three, each fought against each other. It won the " mixed" American- Cuban team 7-2 victories.

Epee individual

Date: September 7, 1904

It was reported five participants each fought against each other. A battle was decided in each case with the first hit.

Saber individual

Date: September 8, 1904

Each of the five participants fought against all others. Had won, who scored the first seven goals. The result is not known in all battles. To the second place was held a decisive battle, won the Grebe against Van Zo Post.

Single Stick

The stock fencing was only in St. Louis on the Olympic program and was in Paris in 1924 demonstration sport. It was reported only three participants.
