Ferdinand Lacina

Ferdinand Lacina ( born December 31, 1942 in Vienna) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ).

Life

Early on, dedicated Lacina, whose parents came from the Czech minority in Vienna, on the side of the Socialists and acted example, as students functionary of VSStÖ. Lacinas lecture notes, which held the anti-Semitic derailments of Professor Taras Borodajkewycz, played a significant role in these respective political affair. Already during his studies at the University of World Trade ( graduation in 1965, Dipl.- Kfm ) occurred Lacina 1964 in the Chamber of Labour Vienna, where he among other things together with Oskar Grünwald a major study on the subject of foreign capital in the Austrian economy authored (Europa Verlag Wien 1970 ). 1973 Lacina was the successor of Edward March head of the economics department of the Vienna Chamber of Labour.

From 1980 he was Head of Cabinet of the Austrian Chancellor Bruno Kreisky many years. From 1982 to 1984 he served as State Secretary in the Federal Chancellery, inter alia, responsible for economic issues. From 1984 to 1986 Lacina was Federal Minister for Transport and was confronted at this time especially with the crisis of the nationalized industries and from November 1985 specifically with the Inter - trading scandal. From this point on Lacina profiled as a champion of de-politicization and at least partial privatization of the sector. From 1986 to 1995 Lacina was Federal Minister for Finance and making it one of the longest serving finance minister of Austria.

After his retirement from active politics of the day, he was until 1997 Director General of the Austrian Giro Credit Bank AG Sparkassen. In the winter semester 2007/ 08 Lacina acted within the framework of the program "Politicians in Residence" as a visiting professor at the Institute for Political Science at the University of Innsbruck.

Lacina is married to the SPÖ politician Gertraud Knoll. His son Robert has worked under the stage name Robert Rotifer as a journalist and musician.
