Five Leaves Left ( German: " Five leaves left "; inscription in the U.S. cigarette paper packets, which indicate that the leaflets are running ) is the debut album by the British folk singer Nick Drake.

The album is considered as all three albums by Nick Drake considered a classic in music history, and appeared in many leaderboards in music magazines on; about the list of the 500 best albums of all time by Rolling Stone in the German edition - best placed as Drake Album - ranked 68 and in the U.S. version at number 283

Also in similar lists of other music magazines, it received top rankings, including No. 45 in The 100 best albums from 1969 to 2009 (Music Express) or number 64 in the 100 Greatest Albums Of All Time ( NME ).

Cover versions

Many tracks on the album have been covered over the years by other performers; including such well-known as Elton John and Norah Jones. The recordings of Elton John, however, date back to 1970, when Elton John was still relatively unknown. He got the demos with producer Joe Boyd, who wanted to make the compositions of Drake known.
