Economy and infrastructure

The municipality is situated on the Flattach Mölltalstraße (B 106).

The Serviced has become like everywhere else in the Alps to a hobby or a modest extra income. Until the 1970s there was a cart path through which the cattle of Kolm Saigurn in the Salzburg via the Tauern Fraganter ( 2,754 m) was driven to the high pastures of the Fragant.

In the past, ore was mined at various locations, some of studs are still preserved today. Thus, the name of the hamlet smelters still points to the montane past. Most important was the copper mining in the valley of Großfragant, which began in the 17th century and the First World War reached its peak and end.

In Außerfragant is the turbine building of the power plant group Fragant, a storage power plant KELAG, the water refers not only from reservoirs in the Fragant, but also from the Zirknitz and Wölla.

Today, tourism is a mainstay. In the community Flattach is the Molltal glacier. In addition, there are the well-known Raggaschlucht and the Duisburg steel of the DAV, the Fraganter shelter and Dr. Hans Aries Youth of the Alpine Club Klagenfurt ( OeAV ) and the Weißseehaus nature friends in the community.

Coat of arms

The church laid in 1959 with reference to an earlier use with the Gezähe (Hammer and Schlegel ) the subject of a coat of arms fixed but got no license for it, and also as a result could not be considered further because of the content, designs or formal defects. Attempts of the Carinthian Provincial Archives, 1977 elements of the landscape and economy as well as introduce later a cancer ( Slow rak ) as the eponymous symbol of the Raggaschlucht failed. In 1990, the municipality adopted a coat of arms with scenic - tourist motives (cable car, Raggaschlucht ), but this was not granted by the state government due to heraldic defects. So only another attempt in 2005 was the breakthrough, as the coat of arms set in as it stands from a combination of different designs - Flattach was thus the last Carinthian village, which was awarded a coat of arms.

The municipality received on 8 May 2006, the right to bear a coat of arms and a flag with the following description:

The silver wedge represents the striking Raggaschlucht, from which protrudes a stylized mountain backdrop of the Molltal glacier. The red Pelton wheel stands for the power generation by the storage power station Fragant.
