Florida State Road 836

The Florida State Road 836 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Florida, which is known locally expanded and highway-like as the Dolphin Expressway. It leads to a length of about 24 kilometers from Tamiami to Miami within the Miami -Dade County. In Miami, the highway is also known as Interstate 395. The road is operated by the Miami -Dade Expressway Authority.

Route

The SR 836 begins at Tamiami at 137th Street, just north of its junction with U.S. Highway 41, which runs about two miles south parallel to the expressway to Miami. After just four kilometers to the east it meets the Homestead Extension of Florida 's Turnpike (SR 821 ). After another seven kilometers of the Palmetto Expressway ( SR 826 ) is crossed. The road then passes through the Miami airport on its southern side. In the last three kilometers to the shores of Biscayne Bay and 1 km before the junction Midtown Interchange with Interstate 95, the highway also leads the designation Interstate 395 At the beginning of the MacArthur Causeway on the banks finally begin the State Road A1A in towards Miami Beach.

Toll

User fees at three points of expressway. History

The first construction of the Twentieth Street Tollway as planned since 1964 highway between the Palmetto Expressway and U.S. Highway 1 along with the airport line started in 1967 and ended in 1969. The second section to the Homestead Extension was begun in 1971 and completed in 1974. The construction of the newest and most westerly section began in 2004. This section was opened in 2007. The toll settlement occurs here only electronically, cash payments are not possible.

The construction of additional lanes, as well as a transformation of the high-traffic node with the State Road 826 are planned for the future. By 2014, the toll collection on the expressway toll road as the last of the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority will be completely automatic.
