Fonsi Nieto

Alfonso " Fonsi " González Nieto ( born December 2, 1978 in Madrid, Spain ) is a former Spanish motorcycle racer.

Fonsi Nieto is the nephew of 13 - times World Motorcycle Champion Ángel Nieto.

Career

Nieto won the Spanish Championship in the 125 cc class in 1995, 1996 and 1998 and in the 250 cc class in 1999 and 2000, since 1999 he participated in the Motorcycle World Championships and finished 2001 ranked fifth in the overall ranking of 250. - cc class. For the 2005 season, Nieto moved to the Superbike World Championship. In 2007 he graduated at the Grand Prix of France in his first race in the MotoGP class, he replaced it in the Kawasaki factory team for the injured Olivier Jacque.

In the 2010 season Fonsi Nieto riding for the team Holyday Gym G22 Moriwaki on in the newly created Moto2 class of the Motorcycle World Championship.

In its been 115 starts in the Motorcycle World Championship Fonsi Nieto reach five wins, 18 podiums, twelve pole positions and seven fastest laps.

In his 112 starts in the Superbike World Championship, he scored a win, five podiums, one pole position and a fastest lap of the race.

In February 2011, Nieto announced his resignation.
