The World Motorcycle Championship 2011 was the 63rd in the history of FIM motorcycle road racing World Championship.

In the MotoGP class were 18 and discharged 17 races in the Moto2 class and the class up to 125 cc.

Scoring

World Champion will be the one driver or the designer, which until the end of season the most points accumulated in the World Cup.   • The existing since 1949 125 - cc class was held for the last time in 2011. As of 2012, it is replaced by the Moto3 class.
  • The Grand Prix of Japan at the Twin Ring Motegi was postponed from 24 April to 2 October after the Tōhoku earthquake in mid-March 2011.
  • At the Grand Prix of Malaysia, the Italian Marco Simoncelli was killed after he lost control of his motorcycle and was struck by the following riders Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi on the back and head. Here, his helmet broke. Because of the serious injuries died Simoncelli.
