The World Motorcycle Championship season in 1959 was the eleventh in the history of the FIM motorcycle road racing World Championship.
In the classes to 500 cc to 125 cc and seven were discharged five races in the classes up to 350 cc and 250 cc six and at the sidecars.
Scoring
- The number gewerteter runs was calculated with an even number of races held by halving this number and then added with one. With six races so four were included in the championship standings.
- If an odd number of races held, the number of runs was added to one and then halved. With seven races thus four were included in the ranking.
- In the sidecars the four best results obtained were taken in the championship standings.

- The Italian Adolfo Covi was born on September 6, 1959 at the 500 cc race at the Grand Prix of Nations at Monza in an accident in the Curva Vialons killed.
