François Groleau
François Groleau ( born January 23, 1973 in Longueuil, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is currently part of the Isothermic de Thetford Mines in the Ligue Nord - Americaine de Hockey.
Playing career
The 1.83 m tall defender started his career with Shawinigan Cataractes and the Saint -Jean Lynx in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL before he was selected by the Calgary Flames at the NHL Entry Draft in 1991 as 41 in the second round.
However, the links Sagittarius never completed an NHL game for the Flames and was only at their farm team, the Saint John Flames used in the American Hockey League. His more time in North America spent Groleau at tiefklassigeren teams, his only eight NHL matches he played between 1995 and 1998 for the Montreal Canadiens. For the 1998/99 season the Canadians joined the Augsburg Panthers in the German Hockey League, after a year in Germany, however, he returned again to North America to play for the Quebec citadels in the AHL.
In 2000, Francois Groleau to the Adler Mannheim, with whom he in his first season, the German Championship won already and for which he played a total of five years. After another season with EV Duisburg DEL Groleau signed for the season 2006 /07 a contract with EHC Black Wings Linz, with which he could reach the play-off semi-finals and there was denied by the later runner- EC VSV. For the 2008/09 season he signed a contract with the Diables Rouges de Briançon in the Ligue Magnus. There he played for two years and won the 2010 Coupe de France. In October 2010, Groleau signed a contract with the Isothermic de Thetford Mines in the Ligue Nord - Americaine de Hockey.
