Frank C. Lynch-Staunton

Frank C. Lynch - Staunton, AOE ( born March 8, 1905 in Pincher Creek, Alberta, † September 25, 1990 in Edmonton ) was a Canadian politician. From 1979 to 1985 he was Vice- Governor of the Province of Alberta.

Biography

After Lyhnch - Staunton had visited the North Fork County School, he went for three years to the Western Canadian College in Calgary. From 1923 to 1927 he attended the University of Alberta and studied engineering. 1929 married Lynch - Staunton his first wife, Monica Adam. With her he had three children. After the death of his wife in 1989 he married Muriel B. Shaw.

In the spring of 1927 Lynch - Staunton obtained a position at which it was applied, the area to be measured at Lethbridge. The survey included, among other objects, a viaduct on the railway line of the Canadian Pacific Railway. After two months he was employed as a geological surveyor with the company, Imperial Oil. Two years later, however, he began a partnership with his father, who owned a ranch. The family business is now run by his son Hugh. Frank Lynch - Staunton founded Community Auction Sales, one of the first companies to sell cattle through auctions. In 1933, he joined the Canadian Army. He resigned from there ten years later with the rank of Major.

In 1955, Lynch - Staunton's political career when he was nine years as a councilor of the electoral district 9. From 1959 to 1965 he was a member of the Senate of the University of Lethbridge. On the recommendation of Prime Minister Joe Clark Lynch - Staunton was appointed vice governor of the province of Alberta on October 18, 1979 Governor General Edward Schreyer. He worked in this office until the expiration of his term of office on 18 October 1984 but remained until the swearing-in of his successor on 22 January 1985 at the office.

During his term as Lieutenant Governor Lynch - Staunton received in 1980 an honorary doctorate from the University of Alberta, three years later, of Lethbridge. In 1987 he published his autobiography Greener Pastures: The Memoirs of F. Lynch - Staunton. He died September 25, 1990 in Edmonton, and was buried in the St. George's Cemetery in Livingston.
