Fraport Arena

Frankfurt Skyliners (BBL, 1999 )

The Fraport Arena (until 2011 Ballsporthalle Frankfurt am Main ) is one of the most important and most modern sports halls of the Hessian city of Frankfurt am Main. Since the season 2011/2012 the hall bears the name Fraport Arena, according to the new main sponsor of Frankfurt Skyliners, the operator Fraport Frankfurt Airport.

The hall was hot Ballsporthalle maximum originally. The naming but was again rejected because they are not located in the Höchst district, but in the area of the district Unterliederbach. On the south side the Silostraße which connects the districts of maximum and Zeilsheim runs. To the east is the site of the Silobades. In the immediate vicinity is also the Centennial Hall.

The hall was built in 1988 and since then has room for 5,002 spectators. The hall has a unique architecture, as their east and west sides are modeled on the cross section of a football. It is primarily used for basketball and handball games. Much damage was done in 2003 by the incoming rising ground water.

On February 25, 2012 a large-scale exercise was held in this hall. In the scenario of large-scale exercise with 250 injured and about 1,000 emergency services emergency rescue was practiced at major incidents.
