The Frauenfeld railway station is the capital of Canton Thurgau Frauenfeld. It is served by long-distance and regional trains of the SBB and its subsidiary Thurbo and the Frauenfeld -Wil -Bahn line and is part of the network of S -Bahn Zurich.

History

The station was established in 1853 as one of 13 stations of the proposed railway from Lake Constance Romanshorn to Oerlikon. After two years of planning and construction, it was opened as the first stage of the path of Roman Horn Lake Constance to Winterthur has been put into operation. Architect of the station building was Jakob Friedrich Wanner, who was responsible for the construction of the stations Zurich HB, Winterthur or Weinfelden.

2009 won Frauenfeld for the concept Station 2000, which included the separation of individual and public transport, the award FLUX .. In this project, the station square was chosen as the transport node and the individual traffic moved to the first underground roundabout Europe to the rapid transfer to allow. The new, 420 -meter-long central platform has been spanned by the second longest platform roof Switzerland.

2008 was at the station, as the pilot started the SBB also in those of Thun, Liestal, Ruti ZH or Yverdon- les- Bains, use station sponsors to support the travelers.

Plant

The station is divided into two parts, the mainline railway station and the station square, including the FW- stop. The SBB part includes five tracks, three of which are connected to a platform, and serve two more than through or sidings for shunting and freight. The passenger is generally handled on the tracks 1 and 2.

  • Track 1: trains to Winterthur / Zurich
  • Track 2: trains direction Weinfelden
  • Track 3: For relief and spare trains ( Openair Frauenfeld ) and shunting
  • Track 4 & 5: shunting and freight

The track 1 is located on the side of the platform to the station building, the tracks 2 and 3 form a central platform. The former locomotive depot now houses a branch of the Infrastructure Division belonging Construction Service.

The two FW- tracks on the station square have no numbering, they are referred to in the SBB timetable as BFPL .. you have no platform roofing, but since 2013 has the one track a Perron.

The station building includes various store rooms rented from chains like Vögele or Avec. Furthermore, still in the train station SBB travel center.
