Fréland

Fréland (German Urbach b. Kaysersberg ) is a commune in the canton of Lapoutroie in the department of Haut-Rhin in the Alsace region. She is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Vallée de Kaysersberg.

Geography

The municipality with 1393 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) is secluded in the Vosges 8 km northwest of Kaysersberg. After the village of the Col du Fréland is named, a favorite with cyclists 826 meter high pass. He leads over the Forêt de communale Fréland and Aubure to Sainte -Marie -aux -Mines in the Val d' Argent. The municipal area is largely wooded and part of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges.

Language

The Canton Lapoutroie is one of the few areas of original Alsatian French-speaking regional language. When threatened with extinction Which (German Welsch ) or Vosgien is a Gallo-Roman dialect from the group of Langues d' oïl, which is closely related to Walloon.
