Frotey-lès-Lure

Frotey -lès -Lure is a town in the French department of Haute- Saône in the Franche-Comté region.

Geography

Frotey -lès -Lure is located at an altitude of 323 m above sea level, 5 km southeast of Lure and about 30 km east of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the eastern part of the department, on a plateau between the rivers of the west and Rahin Rognon in the east, to the west of the heights of the Chérimont.

The area of ​​7.21 km ² municipal area comprises a section in the rolling countryside of the south of the plain of Lure. The central part of the area is occupied by the plateau of Frotey, which is on average 320 m. It consists of an alternation of sandy- marly and calcareous sediments that were deposited during the Lias ( Lower Jurassic ). In the southern part shell is revealed from the Middle Triassic. The plateau is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land.

The boundaries of the plateau to the east of the trough of a side stream of Rognon. Here are two bigger fish pond, including the Etang de Chaudoz. History

The territory of Frotey -lès -Lure was settled very early. During excavations in 1989 were the remains of a Gallo-Roman settlement site ( well shaft and coins ) and a hatchet, which probably dates from the Neolithic period, discovered. Is first mentioned Frotey in 1178 under the name Frostier. For later times the names Froustier ( 1295), Frostey (15th century) and Frostel ( 1572) have survived. The place name derives from the old French word frost ( raw land ). In the Middle Ages Frotey belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local government had the monastery Lure held, while a small portion ( Cubry ) was owned by the rule Granges. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the place with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Frotey -lès -Lure is a member of the 22 localities comprehensive community association Communauté de communes du Pays de Lure.

Attractions

The single- Saint-Laurent church originally dates from the 13th century but was extensively restored 1734-1764 and enlarged. In-room amenities include a flat relief ( 18th century), furniture from the 19th century and a wooden statue of St. Lawrence. The Mairie ( Municipal House ), a small manor in the Lavoir, which once served as a laundry and watering cattle, were built in the 19th century.

Population

With 652 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Frotey -lès -Lure is one of the medium-sized towns in the Haute- Saône. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the area of ​​280-340 people, a continuous population growth was recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Frotey -lès -Lure was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ), forestry and fish farming embossed village.
