Gabriel Giurgiu

Gabriel Nicu Giurgiu ( born September 3, 1982 in Cluj- Napoca ) is a Romanian football player. The midfielder is January 2009 at Oţelul Galaţi in Liga 1 under contract.

Career

The career of Giurgiu began in 1999, when he was called into the squad for the first team of Universitatea Cluj, in his time in the second Romanian league, the Divizia B, played. In his first season he was only on a bet and had to stay with his team at the end of the season in the Divizia C. According to the Direct resurgence he became the starting players. With his club he placed a number of years in the middle of the Divizia B. In the season 2005/ 06 the club missed the promotion to the Divizia A in third place behind Liberty Salonta and FC Bihor Oradea just barely.

During the winter break of 2006/ 07 stood at Universitatea Giurgiu on the first place of the Season II of Division 2, as obliged him the first division Oţelul Galaţi. At the end of the season he could reach with Oţelul fifth place and qualify for the UEFA Cup. Thanks to this success, the Russian first division side Rubin Kazan became aware of Giurgiu and took him in August 2007 under contract. There, however, he could not prevail, and came into the season of 2007, only three missions. In early 2008 he was loaned for six months at Oţelul. After his return to Kazan, he was there only used in the second team, so that he had no part in the championship of ruby.

At the beginning of 2009, Giurgiu returned to Romania and joined again Oţelul Galaţi on. First, under Petre Grigoraş and from summer 2009 under Dorinel Munteanu he became the master force in the team. At the end of the 2010/11 season he surprisingly won the Romanian championship. With the win in the Supercup against Steaua Bucharest in July 2011 followed by his second title.

National

In June 2011, Giurgiu was appointed national coach Razvan Lucescu in the squad of the Romanian national team. On 8 June 2011 he made his debut in a friendly against Brazil when he came on in the 66th minute for Alexandru Bourceanu. Three days later he came against Paraguay in his first start.
