Gachnang

Gachnang is a municipality in the district of Frauenfeld in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland and consists of the districts Gachnang, Islikon, Kefikon, Niederwil and Oberwil. It belongs to the agglomeration Frauenfeld.

Population

Of the total of 3298 inhabitants (2007 ) 334 residents have foreign citizenship.

Traffic

Gachnang lies between the two A1 and A7 motorways and therefore has excellent transport links. Due to the train station served by the THURBO AG Islikon on the railway line from Winterthur to Frauenfeld and several bus lines, the region is also well served by public transport.

History

The first written mention of Gachnang dates from the year 889 as Kachanang. In 1610, led a religious dispute in Gachnang, the Gachnanger trade, almost a war between Zurich and the co-ruling in Thurgau Catholic places.
