Schlattingen

Schlattingen is a town in the municipality Basadingen- Schlattingen District Frauenfeld in the canton of Thurgau in Switzerland. On 1 January 1999 the former municipality was merged with the municipality of Basadingen- Schlattingen.

History

The village was first mentioned in 897 as Slattingarro. Prove finds from the Palaeolithic period and from the Roman period, however, that earlier people have settled in this place. In the Middle Ages possessed especially the monasteries of St. Gallen, Munsterlingen, St. Katharinental and Wagenhausen large possessions within Schlattingens. From 1489 to 1798 the city Diessenhofen exercised jurisdiction in the Low Schlattingen. The Göberg family had the exclusive right to the appointment of new priests of the village church. After the Reformation, was the site of the parish master home. 1827 Schlattinger church branch church was Basadingens.

In the 18th century it acquired a large part of their appeal, also belonged to her 1.1 square kilometers of forest area. Agricultural products such as clover, fruits and grapes brought the resort early on a high profits. In the 19th century, especially the milk production grew rapidly. Between 1920 and 1980 the proportion of the agricultural labor force, however, decreased from 72 % to almost 46 %. During the same period, the share of the service sector increased by about 23%. 1945 was a new housing estate.
