Gale Gordon

Gale Gordon ( born February 20, 1906 in New York City, New York, † June 30, 1995 in Escondido, California ), actually Charles T. Aldrich Jr., was an American actor.

Life

For the son of actress Gloria Gordon and vaudeville artist Charles Aldrich entry was natural in the show business. Initially he worked at the most popular in the 1930s mass medium of radio. He was heard regularly as a speaker in the broadcasts Fibber McGee and Molly, as well as in The Great Gildersleeve. Gordon was 1935, the first speaker of the title character in the radio drama series Flash Gordon. His role in the radio show Our Miss Brooks, he embodied later in the 1952 television version produced. During his work as a radio announcer Gale Gordon met Lucille Ball, with whom he often worked in the following years and was also privately friends. Gordon was originally supposed to play the role of Fred Mertz in Ball's sitcom I Love Lucy, but his involvement in the series Our Miss Brooks forced him to give the role to his colleague William Frawley. However, he had two guest appearances in the series as Mr. Littlefield, the manager of Desi Arnaz ' character Ricky. Another opportunity to play with Lucille Ball presented itself in 1963 in The Lucy Show, where he represented the bank chief Theodore J. Mooney and later employers of the protagonist. Gale Gordon was married from 1937 until her death on May 3, 1995 Virginia Curley. He succumbed to cancer just a few weeks later.
