Gemünden, Westerwaldkreis
Gemünden is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Westerburg.

Geographical location
Gemünden lies to the east of Westerburg, in a north and east, sheltered by mountains to the south wide open valley. In place of the three streams Wood Creek, Elbbach and Schafbach flow together.
To Gemünden include the residential places hammer mill, Jeremiah mill Neumühlestrasse, Höttergesmühle, Lexenmühle, Patchesmühle, Hesse mill and stone mill.
History
879 was the first documentary mention Gemünden. This year, built by Count Gebhard in Lahngau St. Severus pen was dedicated. The pin certificate is missing. Only one copy of the 1333 still exists. The Church of St. Severus ( Protestant Collegiate Church ) probably originated around the year 1100 and offers visitors among other remnants of Romanesque painting from the 12th century.
