Glattfelden is a municipality in the district of Bülach in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland.

Geography

Glattfelden is located in Zurich lowlands on the last stretch of the river Glatt, which opens at Rheinfelden in the Rhine. The site includes beside the village Glattfelden the settlements Schachen, Aarüti, Rheinfelden and Zweidlen. Neighboring municipalities are: Weiach, Hohentengen, Eglisau, Bülach, Hochfelden and Stadel. The municipal area includes the exclave Neuhus, a farmstead in the floodplain, which Glattfelden with Hüntwangen has a common border.

Glattfelden is on the main road No. 7 Basel Winterthur, which travels around the village as cantonal highway A50.

The Glattfelden railway station is on the railway line Bülach - Schaffhausen and from the lines S5 and S22 ( Thurbo ) of the S -Bahn Zurich operated. A bus of the Zurich Transport Network connects the village to the station.

Zweidlen has its own railway station, which is located in Rheinfelden on the line Winterthur -Koblenz. This station was closed in the wake of austerity measures while a few years, but is now operated again.

The place is famous by the intimate relationship that had the Swiss poet and writer Gottfried Keller Zurich State to him. In his youth, he spent his summer holidays in Glattfelden.
