Geographical Location
Gödenstorf is located on the eastern edge of the nature reserve Lueneburg Heath. The community belongs to the Samtgemeinde salt Hausen, which has its headquarters in the town of Salt Hausen.

History
The village was first mentioned in 1289 as Godingstorpe documented. South of the town lies the Iron Age shaft furnace of Gödenstorf.
Incorporations
On 1 July 1972, the neighboring community Lübberstedt was incorporated.

Culture and sights
Fire department
The local volunteer fire department was established in 1921 and merged in 1934 with the fire department of the neighboring town Oelstorf to " volunteer fire Gödenstorf - Oelstorf ". It consists of about 40 active members and many supporters, who are organized in a registered patrons. In addition, this fire department is responsible for many local events throughout the year, such as the Public Viewing responsible to World Cup soccer games, a barbecue or enjoying lantern.
Faslam
The Faslamsclub Gödenstorf existed since 1953. Throughout the years, the neighboring towns Oelstorf and Lübberstedt have joined the club. The Faslamsfest is celebrated mostly in the first weekend in January in Lübberstedt on the Schüttenhof.
Fan Clubs
The local HSV -Fan- Club was founded on 28 March 1993 under the name " Richard Golz Fan Club". After the legendary goalkeeper Richard Golz had left the HSV 1998, the fan club named in " HSV Fan Club Gödenstorf - Garlstorf " around. In his club's bus fan club organizes regular trips to home and away games of HSV.
Sports
The football club " FC Hohe Heide " was founded in 1975 and is a pure leisure club. The first chairman and co-founder of the association since 1975 Klaus Voigt.
