Gomadingen

Gomadingen is a health resort in the Great Lauter on the Swabian Alb, which is known primarily for the main and the Marbach state stud, and by the killing center Grafeneck Castle in the same districts. Gomadingen is a large part of his district (85%) part of the biosphere area Swabian Alb.

Geographical location

Gomadingen lies in the valley of the Grosse Lauter, which rises in the district Offenhausen. Above the village is the Sternberg.

Community structure

The municipality Gomadingen since December 1, 1971 include the previously independent municipalities Dapfen and Steingebronn ( in brackets the number of inhabitants of 30 June 2011). The municipality Dapfen the villages Dapfen ( 463 inhabitants) and water were Stetten (71 inhabitants), the hamlet Marbach an der Lauter ( 43 inhabitants), castle and courtyard Grafeneck (93 inhabitants), the settlement Schelmenbühl and the houses oil mill. The municipality Gomadingen within the limits of 30 November 1971, the villages Gomadingen ( 1092 inhabitants) and Offenhausen (160 inhabitants) and the homestead Gestütshof. The municipality Steingebronn the village belonged Steingebronn ( 283 inhabitants).

In the district Dapfen are the waste places Achilinishusen, Benzingen, Bickenhofen, Hinterhofen, apples and Weygstetten and in the district Gomadingen are the waste places Hebinolsriet, Notzenweiler, black wax and Stetten.

In Gomadingen is the castle Stallburg Gomadingen, in the district Steingebronn the castle Stallburg Steingebronn and water Stetten Castle Stallburg Baldelau.

History

In the district Offenhausen was since about 1260 a nunnery, which was known as the grace cell.

The main Marbach Stud is the oldest state stud ( Land Baden-Württemberg as a carrier ) in Germany. Already under Duke Christoph of Württemberg (1550-1568) can prove to be expanding. In 1817 it became the State Stud of the Kingdom of Württemberg.

Built around 1560 Grafeneck Castle, which served as the hunting lodge of the Dukes of Württemberg, situated on the country road 247 in the district Grafeneck. In the 19th century it was used as the Forestry Office and in 1928 it was acquired by the Protestant Samaritan Foundation, which set up a home for the disabled. In the era of National Socialism Grafeneck Castle served in a short period of time than killing center. There, in 1940 the National Socialist Euthansasieaktion (later T4 ) were 10,654 disabled and sick people were murdered by gas. They were transported mainly from southern Germany here and burned on site in a crematorium. The French occupation forces was the site 1946/47, back to the Samaritan Foundation back, the goal for it as a living center for disabled and mentally ill people and operates to this day. Already in the fifties began the development of the cemetery as a memorial. Finally, in 2005, the Documentation Centre Grafeneck Memorial is built.

Incorporations

1812 came the village Offenhausen Gomadingen to the community. On December 1, 1971 Dapfen and Steingebronn were incorporated to Gomadingen.

Regular events

Highlight of the events in the community Gomadingen are regularly on the last weekend in September and the first weekend held in October stallion parades in the 10,000 -seat arena in the main and the Marbach state stud. In addition, the beginning of May held international eventing competition in Marbach is a further equestrian sports highlight.

Every year on the third weekend in September, is the traditional battle hard place in Dapfen.

The national road 230 leads from the B 27 at Gomaringen coming by the municipality to the A 8 at Merklingen.

The public transport is guaranteed by the integrated transport system Neckar -Alb -Donau ( NALDO ). The municipality is located in the comb 224. 1893 received Gomadingen and Marbach an der Lauter on the route Reutlingen - Münsingen (1901 extended until after Schelkingen ) connection to the railway network. In Gomadingen it was a station unit type IIa, in Marbach, such a type IIIa. Mondays to Fridays today hold regional trains carrying mainly pupils to and from Münsingen.
