Grabina, Opole Voivodeship

Grabine (Polish: Grabina ) is a town in Upper Silesia. Grabine located in the municipality Zülz ( Biała) in Prudnicki powiat (district Neustadt OS) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship.

Geographical Location

Grabine located five kilometers north of the parish seat Zülz, 14 kilometers north of the county town of Prudnik ( Neustadt OS) and 33 kilometers southwest of the Opole voivodship ( Opole ).

Neighboring towns of Grabine are in the west of the hamlet of Kolonia Otocka ( colony Ottok ), in the northwest Puszyna ( Puschine ), in the north Piechocice ( Piechotzutz ), to the east Kolonia Ligocka ( Colony Ellguth ), in the south Ottok ( Otoki ) and Schmitsch ( Śmicz ) and in the southwest Podlesie ( Waldeck ) and Plešnica ( Plieschnitz ).

History

The town was founded in the first half of the 13th century and was first mentioned in 1279. 1845, the first school was opened in the town. 1865 had Grabine 29 gardeners and 54 smallholdings.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 Grabine was outside the voting area. On 15 June 1936, the town was renamed in Gershain. By 1945, the place was in the district of Neustadt OS

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Grabina and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship and since 1999 he is part of the powiat Prudnicki. On 6 March 2006 the German Grabine was in the community Zülz, plays, introduced as a second official language. On 24 November 2008, the City also received the official German place names Grabine.
