Greg Parks

Gregory Parks ( born March 25, 1967 in Edmonton, Alberta ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach and - functionary, who in his active years from 1983 to 2004 among others for the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League as well as the Krefeld EV played in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

Greg Parks began his career as a hockey player with the Alberta Saints, for which he was active from 1983 to 1985 in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In the 1984/85 season he was voted most valuable player of the AJHL. From 1985 to 1989 he attended the Bowling Green State University, for their hockey team he played parallel to his studies in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. With his University team 1987, he won the CCHA Championship. The 1989/90 season began at the Center Kärpät Oulu in the I- divisioona, the Finnish second division, and finished it with the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL and the Springfield Indians of the American Hockey League. With Springfield he immediately won the Calder Cup. In August 1990, he signed a contract as a free agent with the New York Islanders, but where he could not prevail. Within three years, he completed a total of only 25 games for the Islanders in the National Hockey League. During his first two years with the New York Islanders, he ran parallel to their farm team for Capital District Islanders of the AHL.

From 1992 to 1994 played parks mainly for Leksand IF in the Elitserien, the highest Swedish league. The 1994/95 season he spent at Krefeld EV in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga newly established. However, for the Rhinelander, he played only eleven games in which he scored two goals and seven assists. For the 1995/96 season, the Canadians Brynäs IF joined from the Elitserien. From 1996 to 1999 he was at SC Langnau under contract. With the Swiss, he reached after two years in the second-class National League B in 1998 promotion to the National League A. For the season 1999 /2000 Olympian returned from 1994 to Leksand IF in the Elitserien back. After one and a half years he moved within the 2000/ 01 season to Fribourg- Gottéron from the NLA. During the 2001/ 02 season he stood for IF Björklöven in the second Swedish league, Allsvenskan, on the ice. With the team he failed only in the Kvalserien the rise in the Elitserien. Most recently, he appeared from 2002 to 2004 for the Ōji Eagles in the Japan Ice Hockey League. With the Japanese, he participated in the 2003/04 season also participate in the game operating the inaugural Asia League Ice Hockey multinational.

From 2010 to 2012, he served as head coach and general manager for the St. Albert Steel of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Since the 2012/13 season he is GM and Director of Hockey Operations for the Whitecourt Wolverines, also in the AJHL.

Internationally

For Canada took park in the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer part where he won the silver medal with his team.
