2000–01 Nationalliga A season
The 2000/ 01 was the 63rd regular season of the National League A. The ZSC Lions were in the play-off final against HC Lugano Swiss champion. In the National League B of the HC Lausanne ' B- master ' was and managed against the NLA Playout losers HC La Chaux -de-Fonds promotion to the top division.

Mode
Were played by the 12 teams 2 double rounds of 22 games. After that, the best eight teams determined the Swiss champion in the play-off style. Quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals were played each after the mode best -of-seven.
The other four teams determined in the playouts the team that had to play for the league against the champions of the National League B.
